Overview

Chulu Far East Peak Climbing is one of classic climbing in Nepal combined with the famous Annapurna Circuit Trek. Among the three peaks Chulu, the climbing of the Summit of the Far East of Chulu is a simple but fun ascent and requires no prior technical experience in climbing. However, the steep terrain and the scree during the approach make the task a little difficult. This summit has often been compared to Island Peak in the Everest region.

Chulu Far East Peak Ascension offers climbers the opportunity to witness the breathtaking donations of nature. The hike crosses quiet landscapes, lush vegetation and the traditional villages of the Gurung people in the majestic region of Annapurna.

Essential Info

Accommodation: Teahouses are available along the trekking route, offering basic rooms with twin beds and shared bathrooms. At higher altitudes, especially at base camp and high camp, camping accommodation is required, with tents and basic facilities.

Meals: Nutritious meals, including dal bhat (rice, lentils, vegetables), noodles, soups, and Tibetan bread, are served during the trek. In lower altitudes, some meat options are available, but as you ascend, food choices become more limited due to remote access.

Trekking Permit: You need an Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP), Trekkers’ Information Management System (TIMS) card, and a Chulu Far East Climbing Permit.

Health and Safety: Altitude sickness is a risk above 3,000 meters, especially near High Camp (5,400m) and the summit (6,059m). Acclimatization days, staying hydrated, and moving at a steady pace are essential. Your guide will carry a first-aid kit and an oximeter for altitude monitoring.

Best Time: The best climbing seasons are March to May (spring) and September to November (autumn). These months offer stable weather, clear skies, and safer climbing conditions. Winter is extremely cold, and monsoon season brings heavy rain and difficult trails.
